Sachin and Sunny under the scanner?

CAG objects to tax exemption given to Sachin and Sunny Gavaskar. Apparently Sachin had claimed an exemption of 3.6 crores from income in advertisements and Gavasakar's exemption was to the tune of 80 Lakhs.

Tough times ahead for the little masters.

'What Indian cricket needs today is a Ravi Shastri to lead the side' - Ian Chappell.

Does Ian see a little of himself in Ravi?

Was he the best captain we never had? Like Warne for Australia
RSJ Shastri will be remembered for his bloody-mindedness and ability to maximise the talent that he possessed. Hard as nails in keeping with the old Mumbai tradition, he gave no quarter, and asked for none. Do we have another Ravi Shastri out there somewhere?

England -An outside chance?

SL miss a trick last night, and SA scrape through. Ranatunga called  it though and said the Proteas would struggle, which they did though I dont think Arjuna or anyone else for that matter expected Mali's 4 wicket burst.

I dont think the Proteas with their uni dimensional bowling will go the distance and with New Zealand being hampered by injuries Vincent's gone now and joins Tuffey, Taylor and Gillespie.
The Windies have already dropped a game and playing 3 days in a row
I think they will lose to NZ today.

England since Freddie's Pedalo incident have been there and rather quietly.

Does anyone think England even have an outisde chance of atleast making the Semis

In the event of an upset

A very interesting read on how broadcasters and sponsors can preserve their interests in bigger tournaments.

A fine balance

Valid point raised by Ian Chappell and Tony Greig on the weight and size of today's cricket bats, length of the boundaries and just the need for balance between bat and ball.

It was in reference to Matthew Hayden being comprehensively beaten by Samuels but he still managed to reach out and one hand the ball back over the bowlers head for six

The balance between bat and ball needs to be restored yes,But how? longer boundaries? lighter bats? go back to the 2 piece ball which supposedly swings a whole lot more than the 4 piece that is currently in use.

Any suggestions?
